1.We use the newest customable eye tracking laser system available.
It is a
600Hz eye tracking laser system which tracks the center of the patient's cornea within a diameter of 10.

2.The machine receives professional maintenance monthly.
LASIK, or Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileuses, is a way of treating myopia and astigmatism.
Using the highly advanced Excimer Laser at Fujimoto Eye Clinic, Dr. Fujimoto can change the curvature of your cornea,
resulting in markedly improved visual acuity (better than 20/20 for most patients).
The procedure is short (approximately 20 minutes for both eyes) and pain-free.

LASIK Testimonial: Toshikazu Sugihara, Pro Golfer

I had been interested in LASIK surgery for some time but I couldn't make up my mind whether to fo through with it..
Actually, I thought about it for a year. Finally, when another golfer strongly recommended the procedure, I decided to have it done.

In February 2003 I had LASIK surgery at Fujimoto Eye Clinic. It was much easier than I expected. There was no pain.
I can now see everything cluearly on the golf course. My visual acuity is 40/20! It's so wonderful!!

Cataract Surgery

multifocal IOL

normal IOL

A cataract is an opacity of the lens of the eye. This condition affects mainly older people, but anyone can develop cataracts. Symptoms include blurred vision or unusual sensitivity to light.

Fujimoto Eye Clinic treats cataracts first with eye-drop anesthesia, then with a very small incision. There is no bleeding, and the incision requires no sutures. If the patient desires, after the cataract surgery is complete, any myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism can be treated with refractive surgery. (insert intra ocular lenses)

Dr. Fujimoto has treated the largest number of multifocal IOL operations in Japan.

Patients can see both near and far using this special IOL.

Dr. Fujimoto recommends the procedure to patients under 60 years of age.

Cataract surgery is covered by the Japanese National Health Insurance system. Fujimoto Eye Clinic welcomes other forms of insurance; please contact us toll-free at 0120-0419-86 (Japanese only) or email us in English here. (email link)

Glaucoma Treatment

Glaucoma is a condition in which the aqueous fluid in the eye increases or doesnft flow out smoothly, creating interocular pressure. There are two types. Sufferers of acute glaucoma may experience hazy vision, headaches, or vomiting. Individuals with chronic glaucoma may not feel anything at first. This type of glaucoma is usually detected during routine eye examinations.

Glaucoma cannot be cured, only treated. At Fujimoto Eye Clinic, doctors treat acute glaucoma by using a laser to make a small hole in the peripheral iris. This aids in removing excess fluid. The procedure takes 5-10 minutes. Chronic glaucoma is treated according to the severity of the condition: first with eye-drop medicine, then with oral tablets, then finally with day-surgery.

Glaucoma treatment is covered by the Japanese National Health Insurance system. Fujimoto Eye Clinic welcomes other forms of insurance; please contact us toll-free at 0120-0419-86 (Japanese only) or email us in English here. (email link)

Lid Surgery

Three types of eyelid-related problems are commonly treated at Fujimoto Eye Clinic: entropium, ptosis, and lid tumors.

Entropium: Asian people often have this congenital condition. It causes the eyelid to turn down or inward, which in turn sometimes causes the eyelash to gstickh to the cornea. At Fujimoto Eye Clinic, doctors treat entropium with nylon sutures, creating what is known as a gdouble eyelid.h

Ptosis: This condition occurs when the lid muscles weaken, causing the lid to fall over the front of the eye. Like entropium, ptosis is also easily solved by suturing.

Lid Tumors: Without warning, unsightly and painful lid tumors can develop on the eyelid. Many can be treated with treated with medicinal drops, but surgery is sometimes necessary.

The treatments for all of these conditions (except for strictly cosmetic surgery) are covered by the Japanese National Health Insurance system. Fujimoto Eye Clinic welcomes other forms of insurance; please contact us toll-free at 0120-0419-86 (Japanese only) or email us in English here. (email link)

Orthokeratology

Orthokeratology is a new technique designed to treat myopia without surgery. Patients are given a special type of hard contact lens to wear at night, while sleeping (6 hours, minimum). The lens pushes against the cornea to make it flatter. When the patient wakes up, he or she removes the lens, and the result is nearly 20/20 visual acuity for the rest of the day. Orthokeratology is suitable for anyone, but is particularly recommended for patients under 20 years of age (who are not eligible for LASIK surgery).

The initial six-month fee for orthokeratology treatment is 250,000 yen. This fee is NOT covered by the Japanese National Health Insurance system. However, after the initial

six-month period, follow-up treatments (but not special examinations) are covered by National Health. Fujimoto Eye Clinic welcomes other forms of insurance, provided orthokeratology treatment is covered; please contact us toll-free at 0120-0419-86 (Japanese only) or email us in English here. (email link)

Examinations for Contact Lenses and Eyeglasses

Contact Lenses: Individuals interested in contact lenses can both be examined and supplied with lenses at Fujimoto Eye Clinic. All major brands of hard, soft, and disposable lenses are available.

Eyeglasses: Individuals needing eyeglasses can be examined at Fujimoto Eye Clinic and given a prescription. Patients can then take that prescription to any glasses shop in Japan. However, we particularly recommend Takahashi Glasses Shop, a branch of which is connected to all three Fujimoto Eye Clinics. Takahashi Glasses Shop offers a discount to all customers with a prescription from Fujimoto Eye Clinic.

Examinations for contact lenses and eyeglasses are covered by the Japanese National Health Insurance system. Fujimoto Eye Clinic welcomes other forms of insurance; please contact us toll-free at 0120-0419-86 (Japanese only) or email us in English here. (email link)

General Eye Examinations

Individuals wanting general eye examinations are welcome at Fujimoto Eye Clinic. Treatment is available for all types of eye-related problems, including conjunctivitis, allergies, corneal ulcers, and retinal detachment. Fujimoto Eye Clinic can also refer patients with unusual conditions to specialists.
